Eat Local, Eat Healthy
In the new year, we turn our attention to food and eating habits. Eating local means supporting nearby farmers and reducing the pollution caused by transport. Eating healthy means focusing on fresh fruit, vegetables, and simple meals, while avoiding waste and unnecessary packaging. In January, the school will promote food education activities, including visits to local markets and preparation of sustainable recipes. Understanding where our food comes from is essential to respecting both the planet and our bodies. A seasonal, balanced, and conscious diet is the best way to begin the year with energy and responsibility.
Green Project January – Early Years
The children had a fantastic time exploring where our food comes from! They role-played as farmers and vendors, explored real vegetables and seeds, and even had a go at milking cows through pretend play.
Green Project January – Middle 2
As part of our activities for the January theme, eat local, we learnt what we can do to help small local businesses and shops for example by getting local food through solidarity purchasing groups. We brainstormed benefits of eating local food.
